Hi,
can anyone explain to me how iterations in Aris 9.8 should be modelled? Can you give an example?

Hi,

Hello Kai,
very simple example:
Role A makes a proposal, Role B accepts the proposal (formal approval step). If Role B rejects the proposal, the cycle goes back to Role A to make a new proposal.
Please note, that the idea of EPC is to model business flows. Ideally you choose a granularity of "OTOPOP": One time, one place, one person.
So whenever your flow changes desks (another person/role), subsequent activities are not likely to be executed directly after each other (another time) or the person executing needs to change place ("prepare proposal" at the office, "perform negotiation" at customer site) you model separate activities.
See the attached example.

Hello me agin,
I have modelled your example, but the problem is the following thing:
When I try to do a semantic check with ARIS (Model Rules) I get a violation, because no loops back are allowed. Any idea what to do now?
Hello,
you can configure the rules that you want to apply in Semantic checks. Semantic checks are sets of rules to be applied together. These sets are called "Profiles". When you start a semantic check, you are asked for the Profile you want to use. Either you create your own profile or you deactivate this rule in the profile you are applying.
You need Configuration administrator privilege on the tenant to achieve this. When you look through the configuration you may discover a lot of other more or less useful rules, depending on your modelling convention requirements, which you may simply include in your Semcheck profiles. Semantic checks can be a very powerful tool in achieving quality in your modelling effort.
If you have very special requirements and you are skilled in ARIS Scripting you may even define your own semantic check rules or discuss your requirements with a service provider for ARIS scripting.
