Matrix models are used to represent technical and disciplinary structures, hierarchies, site locations etc. This video shows how ARIS can support you when modeling matrices.

First, we will create a matrix. The column header should be called "Production location", the row header "Production manager".

A matrix can be created from a search result. You can add objects from all database groups.

You can sort objects. You can insert objects directly from the navigation bar. Columns are added automatically.   
This is what it looks like when all of the locations have been added.   
You can group objects hierarchically.

When all of the relevant objects are grouped hierarchically it looks like this. If columns have been modeled and you pull an object into a row, possible connections are automatically offered to you. This also works vice versa. 

You can create new objects in the matrix. You can define default connections and easily insert them by double clicking. Abbreviations can be assigned for connection names. You can hide objects temporarily.
