Hello,
I was trying to add node localhost while updating the ARIS agent from 98.7 to 98.9 in ACC usinfg the command
add node localhost localhost:80 "system" "manager"
I get an error :
unable to add node localhost to ensemble.
Couldnot connect to http://localhost:80/rest. Make sure that an agent is running on this machine and that the specified port is correct. Also check if you used the right protocol to communicate with the agent <you used HTTP, try HTTPS>.
How to resolve this? Please help
Hi Adithya,
surprising that no one answered this until now, so let me answer it, even though that posting is now a few months old already and probably long solved. :-)
First problem is that you are using the wrong port. In ARIS 9.x, the agent is running on port 9001 (unless of course you changed it to port 80). Just remove the ":80" from the add node command if your agent uses the default port, you only need that if you manually chose a different port.
Second problem is that the agent's credentials are not the same as those of ARIS itself. Default agent(!) username is "Clous", default password is "g3h31m". And while you shouldn't change the agent port without a good reason, you definitely should change the agent username and in particular the password (its in the manual), as otherwise anyone that can reach that machine over the network can mess with your ARIS installation.
Further, you write "...while updating the ARIS agent...". An update of course requires stopping the agent, then replacing the agent files with the new version, then restarting it. During that time, the agent is (temporarily) unreachable. So if you really try to launch ACC (with proper hostname, port, and credentials) during exactly that time, you will get a similar error messages.
