process monitoring and BAM solution in ARIS 9

Also as I am not able to post my query in the tech forum, i am posting it here..

We are looking for a BPM tool for process modelling, analysis and governance as well as Business Driven Monitoring of Processes in Real Time

We already have ARIS 7.2, however we are looking for the best BPM tool that fulfills our Requirements and it seems that except for Real time Monitoring of  process performance,  I believe tht  ARIS 9 should be the right fitment.

 We need a tool that should also be integrated to our back end systems so we can take out real time dashboards on process parameters like Critical Steps, Output of Process and do the Real time Monitoring of  process performance (in terms of KPIs and SLAs, analyze events and KPIs, Alerts users real time and so on)

Since I assume ARIS do not fulfill this requirement (pls correct if i am wrong),  we  need Choose any one of the monitoring tools as mentioned above ( additional license ) along with ARIS to fulfill complete requirements, My query here is will we be able to integrate / couple the IBO tools with ARIS 9, and how feasible it would be to have it integrated with ARIS

Also, as I see these tools (Software AG PPM) "automatically generates a graphical representation of business workflows based on actual process data that it extracts from your operational IT systems"  ,what would be the benefits / advantages of integrating this with ARIS. and generally when do people  see the need to have both the tools (ARIS + PPM) coupled.

being new in this area (real time monitoring tools) Seeking inputs here.

Dear Anupama,

Imagine that you document your "cooking recipes" in ARIS, what to cook, in which sequence of tasks, by which ingredents, supported by which tools, executed by someone with specific skills to achieve "process excellence", the ideal picture of a perfect meal.

In that analogy PPM will be the tool recording how did you cook, which steps did you run, which not. Was the given sequence of steps followed or was is a back and forth of even additional/unplanned steps. And finally how well, how close have you reached the ideal result: a perfect meal. All that has to recorded by persistent data you have left while working.

So ARIS guides/governs your organization on "built time" how to run their tasks/jobs, opposed to PPM how well you did at "run time" and which result did you achieve case by case, process instance by process instance.

On top of PPM's process capturing of extracted data of runtime systems, you could add real-time monitoring, complex event monitoring, helping your organization to avoid bad process execution and to foresee upcoming issues, such as past deadlines, deliveries without invoice, invoices without delivery etc.

This picture illustrates adds even one more process type to that picture, the implemented process, sitting in IT systems:

In a very mature process-oriented organization ARIS at built-time and PPM/CEP at run-time fits well together, IF the management wants to improve processes by learning from the past.

Another customer combining ARIS & PPM is Accarda (some more customer references)

But don't think too much about a technical integration of ARIS' built-time processes and and PPM's run-time processes. Think more about who are the stakeholders of the both and how ould they benefit from an organizational combination of the both approaches:

• A process manager wants to see the organization following his governance and rules documented in business processes but needs feedback from the line of business how they actually run their operations for improving the processes (in ARIS)
  
   
• A line of business manager needs to follow process governance to run their business efficiently, but also wants to have the freedom to adapt processes to the daily changing actual needs, thus he can give valuable feedback where and how to improve the business processes (by the recorded process patterns of PPM)
