Firstly I would like to say well done IDS Scheer on a fabulous product in Mashzone. I have been trialling the free version and I am very impressed with the ease of use and the outputs that can be generated.
With regards to the interactive maps, I think this is a great idea, but wondered on what scale these can be utilised. Currently there is a Germany, USA and World maps (Countires and Continents). I can see this being very useful with our organisation at showing regional performance.
My question is, will maps be made available for the UK (and other countries/regions) or be able to be imported (i.e. .xml maps)? This may be so in the professional version but I am not currently aware of this?
It would also be useful to know if additional interactive images are to be made available in the future as well?
Thanks,
Chris
Dear Chris,
thanks for your positive feedback about ARIS MashZone. As of version 1.0 of the product the maps widget is limited to the countries/continents you already mentioned. This is no matter of license.
Yes, you may use dynamic and/or interactive images. Images might be read from the server's local file system or any remote URL. The image's name might be computed dynamically within the data feed editor. This enables you to, e.g. display different background images depending on the current weather forecast or stock prizes. Image formats supported include PNG/JPEG as well as Flash (for interactivity as you already know from YouTube, i.e. play/pause, volume...).

Stephan
Dear Pavel,
MashZone alows you to define actions on images. Within the data feed editor there is an option named Specify link which is available at the component's menu. From here you have three different kind of actions which are activated as you click the link. As the right part of the image indicates the link will either
- Switch to another tab
- Open any external URL
- Or even select values from other widgets - the Set selection button on the bottom enables you to select another chart and which dimension value to select.

Stephan
