We are displaying specific attributes in the header of our EPC Models.

Today, the content of this text attribute has disappeared - whereas the attribute itself is still filled.

Does anyone have any idea how this could happen or what could have possibly caused it. Also any ideas on how to update this smartly without manually updating every single header?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Claire

Disappearing attributes sound very strange. I have never seen that. What happens if you add the attribute again? What kind of attributes did you display (of the model or of some specific object)?

Hi Sebastian,

The attribute itself hasnt disappeared. What happened was that we usually fill in our Process Objective in the Header. We just drag it from the attribute section into the header. The attribute itself and the text is still there for each process. But the text has vanished from the header of all processes. And we have no idea how it happened.

What possibly could have happened or better still we would be grateful if anyone has any smart ideas how to get the text back in the header.

Regards,

Claire

The only "smart" way I can think of to insert them again is the following procedure:

  • manually create the header in one model save the model
  • select all objects of the header and copy them to the clipboard
  • now open a model you like to update and paste the clipboard content
  • repeat the previous step for all models you like to update

It is not really an automated process, but it should work fine for a few dozens of models. However, if you are dealing with hundreds of models, you will probably need to write a script.

Hello there,

in the latest service releases (starting from SR07 I believe), you can make this even simpler by using the Fragments. So we start of the same way as Sebastian said:

  • manually create the header in one model.
  • select all objects of the header and create the fragment. (select apply for all model types)
  • now open the model you like to update and drag and drop the fragment in the model
  • repeat the previous step for all models you like to update

it's not an automated process either, but you can use the fragment later in all your models without having to copy the header again.

regards, Bruno

Claire did not point out which release is in use, but the effect reminds of this thread

The problem of placed and grouped attributes disappearing from Aris Designer after re-opening a model occured in our environment as well (ABD + ABA 7.1 SR2010_06 )

Oh, that's indeed a very outdated version. Any chance to ask your admins to upgrade it to the latest service release?

Claire,

Make sure your layers aren't an issue. In other words, make sure that your header graphic isn't just obscuring the attributes by being placed in front of them (check Arrange|Bring Forward, etc.). If you group your header and the attributes (after arranging your attributes to appear in the front), this isn't as much of an issue.

You can just drag your header out of the way and see if the attributes are hidden beneath it.

Good luck!

Steve
