New and Existing Model Assignments

I'm just confirming the functionality. When I attempt to create an assignment in the ARIS Connect free trial environment, there is a blank page without any output or options, so I'm not able to test the functionality of assigning either a new or existing model. I'm also taking the Modeler exam, so if this question was on the exam, and Connect worked differently in this aspect, I could potentially get the question wrong sans confirmation. Thanks

Dana, can you please describe what you are doing in detail. When is the blank page coming?

Regarding modeling I prefer to use ARIS Connect or the cloud version and NOT Aris Architect/Designer. The user interface is different but not the functionality regarding designing models. ARIS Architect/designer is still necessary for special administration tasks, creating reports, simulations and so on.  I can link each object in a model by assignment to another model e.g. in BPMN a collapsed sub-process or a call activity to the detailed model.

On the explorer level I can create variances of process modell to a new or existing model so that a comparison is possible. This is technically also an assignment.

A new blank tab opened when I tried, but it might have just been a bug, because I just tried it again and it worked.

In the ARIS Trial environment I only have access to ARIS Connect, Advanced. Architect/Designer is not included, so I only know of some of the functionality through viewing the training slides. If you're interested in viewing this material, the course is called ARIS Modeler Essentials. When you mention 'explorer level' are you referring to Architect/Designer?

You can download ARIS Architect/Designer as client from the user profile menu  (where you also find the logout) of ARIS Connect/Advanced. I think this should also be available in the trial version.

With Explorer level I mean the ARIS Repository.

Hello Dana,

When you create an assignment, you are asked whether you want to assign an existing model or create a new one.

If you select to create a new one, you will be asked, what type of model you want to create. By default the new model will get the name of the object you are assigning the new model to. And obviously the new model is initially blank, as long as you haven't modelled anything in it. For some model types an occurrence of the object you assigned the model to will be created by default in the new model.

So a blank page is not a bug, but the expected behaviour to allow you getting started on modelling what you want to assign.
