Today, I want to share with you how to add an image to your post or comment published on ARIS Community. After you have done it once, you will agree that it is fairly easy. But the first time you might not notice the little buttons needed to click.

First, take a look at this video. The procedure is the same for adding an image to a post or a comment.

You can download the video shown above or watch additonal videos on our ARIS Community Youtube channel.

If you are editing a post or comment, you should see a toolbar with typical text editing icons above the textarea. If you can't see this toolbar, it is probably an incompatibility with your browser.

This toolbar contains the following icon, which you have to click to insert an image:  A dialog shows up, which has several tabs. You have to open the "Upload" tab. There, you simply choose a file from your harddisk and upload it. The upload of the image is confirmed by a message box, which you have to click away by pressing "Ok". Now, you get to the following screen.

If everything went fine, you can directly add your image by pressing the "Ok" button at the bottom of the dialog. In some very rare cases it might happen that the width and height of the image was calculated to be 0. In that case, click on the small "Refresh" button marked with an "A" in the image above.

You can also adjust the alignment of the image using the dropdown box marked with a "B" in the image above. The area marked with a "C" in the image above shows you a preview how your image will be positioned in the text. If you are finished with the configuration, press the "Ok" button to insert the image in your post or comment.

You can change the settings later, too. While you are in the editing mode of your post or comment, click on the image and press the  button again. You will get to the screen shown above.

One more remark. The maximum allowed width of an image is 700 pixels. Please use an image format supporting compression such as jpg, png or gif. Otherwise the filesize will be too big and you won't be allowed to upload the image.

Do not use the image upload functionality if you want to share an ARIS Express model with members of ARIS Community. The following article describes how to upload an ARIS Express model to ARIS Community.
