Welcome to ARIS Business Publisher. In this video tutorial you will learn how to publish a database. All you need is a database that contains a user group and the Publisher administrators password.
You can publish databases in ARIS Business Architect in the Administrator module. Make sure that a user group was created in the database. The user group controls the access privileges for the individual export users. It contains all of the users who will later be able to log into the Business Publisher export. A separate login profile is created for each of the selected method filters. The access privileges determine which content is displayed in the export.
The item "publish" is displayed for each ARIS Business Server. ARIS Business Publisher is available to you after you have entered your password. If you are not yet connected to a Business Publisher Server, please do so now. Enter the name or the IP address of the Business Publisher Server that was set up by your administrator.
After the Business Publisher Server is displayed in the navigation tree, you can publish all databases managed on this ARIS Business Server. You can however, also click on the database you wish to export and start the export from there. In this example, the export will be started from the Business Publisher Server.
First enter the name and if necessary, a description of the export into the wizard. Do not use any special characters in the name. Make the desired settings on the subsequent wizard pages. You can publish a specific database version here or create a reference to another export. If you have published several different database versions, users can navigate to a current model or to a previous version. Here we will publish the current status and will not select a change list. The profile determines the representation options.
To customize exports to meet your requirements you can change the standard profile or create a new profile. For more information on how to do this, please read the online help. If you select a model template, models and objects are represented in the export as they were defined in the template.
In this export, the items should be represented the same way they are in ARIS because "No template" was selected. A flag is displayed in the Business Publisher Export for each language selected here. Export users can thus switch from one interface language to another at any time without having to log in again. The installed languages are considered by default in the language combinations. If a language was installed subsequently, add it to this page. Of course, you can also remove languages you don't need for the export. In order for content, such as names to appear in every language we recommend defining an alternative language for the database. These names are then displayed in the alternative language if they were not entered in the current language. You can exclude database items from export using a filter. Select the default layout for the export. Please contact us, if you wish to customize the layout or require further functionalities.
You can check the settings made in the summary. The export is started after you click on "Finish". This process may take a while depending on the data load. The sample database needs approximately two minutes. After the export is finished, it is listed on the "Exports" tab. It is displayed for the Business Publisher Server, as well as in the "Publisher exports" group of the exported database. Now, all you have to do is activate the database so that other users can work with it. In this area you can also update, edit and delete the exports. The first video tutorial provided you with an overview of ARIS Business Publisher.
You just saw how easy it is to publish databases. You can find out how to manage your exports in the video tutorial of the same name. If you want to know how to open an export and work with it, please take a look at the video tutorial "Using Web Exports".
