General Modeling Conventions, Guidelines, and Fundamentals
The ONE Standard – Foundation represents the baseline framework within the overall ONE Standard initiative. It serves as the core reference and methodological backbone for all ARIS-based modeling activities within the organization.
This database provides a consistent starting point for modelers and ARIS CoE members by defining all conventions, structures, and governance principles used across subsequent projects and repositories.
It is based on many years of best-practice experience gathered from various customer projects and is designed for organizations starting a new ARIS initiative with the goal of establishing a sustainable Process Repository.
It is strongly advised not to deviate from this standard, especially during the initial project phase.
The entire ONE Standard Framework – including related filters, templates, and connected components – relies on full alignment with the Foundation setup.
Early deviations (e.g. by filter or modeling adjustments) may result in inconsistencies and the need for unnecessary customization.
Adjustments should therefore only be considered after the first rollout of the Process Repository.
Language
ARIS provides extensive multilingual capabilities and supports different types of language settings throughout the platform.
However, within the ONE Standard – Foundation, English is the only fully supported language in the current version.
All model names, object labels, attributes, and conventions are therefore provided in English.
Additional languages will be added in future releases to support broader localization and translation needs.
Versioning and Governance
Each component of the ONE Standard framework, including this database, follows a formal versioning scheme.
Changes to conventions, filters, or templates are tracked and communicated via the central release documentation.
The CoE team remains responsible for the coordination, rollout, and integrity of the overall framework.
To maintain compatibility and long-term stability, any deviation or customization from the Foundation setup should be introduced only after a stable initial rollout phase.
Convention Parts
Detailed explanations of all conventions and rules are documented in chapters. (See Table of Content above)
