From ARIS to execution: looking back at history

Today, ARIS is used by many partners to enhance their offerings. Getting to a state where every major middleware vendor is using and recommending ARIS, was a long way to go. Today, I like to share with you the history behind Oracle BPA Suite, which is an OEM version of ARIS sold by Oracle. In 2004, the ARIS Implementation Platform consisted of only two parts: ARIS for mySAP and P2A (Processes2Applications) approach. The latter mainly referred to ARIS UML Designer and business process based software engineering.

New article from Prof. Scheer about trends that will shape the future of BPM

Markets are changing, technology is changing, and - of course - Business Process Management is changing. In the course of the past few years, employees have evolved from wageworkers to managers. Therefore, BPM today is a routine job for each employee. This, of course, has an impact on how Business Process Management is lived in organizations and how technology can support this “way of life”.

    SOA enabling business/IT alignment

In the past, IT integration business was easy. IT systems needed to be integrated, for example interconnecting two enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. To solve this, an interface between both systems was established and the work was done. Ok, I know this was not really easy either, but at least it is less complex compared to what we are trying to achieve today: business/IT alignment.

Why focus on the “B” in Business Process Management?

The automatic reaction of businesses to the current economic crisis is to seek ways of cutting costs. In many cases, however, they do so blindly and without really knowing whether such measures will deliver the desired results, i.e., allow them to survive. In my view, these organizations are going about it the wrong way: the key to survival and maximizing market potential are investment and/or developing growing business areas.
