    Revealing process behavior

In my first post I have stated that Process Intelligence puts the banks back in charge. I will now elaborate on how this latest form of business intelligence works.

Process Intelligence Puts the Banks Back in Charge

As confidence in the banks declines, the hunt is on for innovative tools to increase transparency and improve business performance. Process Intelligence is a new technology offering a glimmer of hope in sombre times. The benefits of Process Intelligence are twofold. It is of fundamental importance to both performance improvement and risk management, because it improves our understanding of how results are actually achieved.

    ARIS User Group North America

A few weeks ago, I gave you some insight into the ARIS User Group in France – the French Club Utilisateurs ARIS. If you look across the Atlantic Ocean, you will find the ARIS User Group for the North American continent which was established in July 2004 and is still being led by its founding chairperson, Deb Boykin of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

    Technical SOA is Dead

Since the middle of last year the SOA hype seems to be gone. Many analysts and opinion leaders have changed their own messages now focusing on broken SOA initiatives or slow adoption rates. So far, I refused to join this SOA bashing, because it is too easy to criticise something.

    ArchiMate is gaining weight

Ever since it was developed as a universal language for enterprise architecture, ArchiMate has had a small but growing fan group in the architecture community, mostly in the Netherlands. That, however, is changing fast. ArchiMate has been accepted as a standard by The Open Group (of the TOGAF framework), which established the ArchiMate Forum to lead its further development.

From the Internet of Things to Intelligent Business Processes

At this year's German IT Summit in Darmstadt, I attended a forum that focused on how ICT research can be leveraged to achieve leadership in major growth industries. The aim of the forum was to highlight the future prospects for Germany as an ICT location.

Why I'm getting my books and journals faster

I recently attended the customer presentation of publisher Springer Science+Business Media at the Process Intelligence Roadshow in Frankfurt. It’s amazing! The company needs to ship over 3 million scientific and technical books and almost 5 million journals every year in Germany alone. So how do they measure those logistics?

    SOA at OMG Information Days

I have just come back from a short trip to the IT conference "OMG Information Days 2008" in Munich, where I lectured on some SOA best-practices. The one-day conference was not really crowded, just roughly 50-60 people. So I wonder if this reflects a declining interest in SOA or has the world-wide recession already started to pulverise travel and training budgets? Anyway, what to take home from my stay in Munich...

    ARIS and SOA

Last week I received an email from a student asking how service-oriented architecture (SOA) is covered in ARIS and what literature I can provide. I thought the answer might be also interesting for other people, so I also share it here.

We love BPM – we love ARIS

I just read the interesting article of my colleague Sebastian about the OMG and their BPM certification program. I know of another not so "official" way to become a BPM Expert. Do you know how, too?

    BPM Certification Program Available Soon

Our readers know that "We Love BPM". Therefore, we are always happy to see new initiatives trying to spread the word about BPM. One recent initiative is the OMG certification program for BPM experts. This official certification program consists of several levels and registration for the fundamental level will be available soon. As a contributor to the certification program I am not allowed to release any of the questions (sorry guys!), but I can give you some hints what you can expect from the program.
