Is modelling like writing love letters?

TechCrunch is currently reporting that the social network site BeautifulPeople.com has kicked out 5.000 members, because they gained too much weight over Christmas. That got me thinking if we should also kick out ARIS Community members if we notice they make a syntactical mistake while modelling a process model?!

Let's celebrate: ARIS Community welcomes 20,000th member!

I almost can´t believe it but today ARIS Community can welcome the 20,000th member! Since the launch in May 2009 you created 31 groups, 1673 posts, 3542 comments and discussed many BPM relevant subjects. 2000 people access the platform daily and 100 ARIS Express models have already been uploaded. Also, 15 Wallpapers were published, iPods were raffled and BPM addicts all over the world are networking busily. We also had one proposal of marriage. ;-)

    Make a wish!

It is Christmas time! Back then, when I was a child, my parents asked me for my Christmas wish. One of the bad things about growing up is that nobody is asking you for your wish anymore and you have to find an excuse on your own to buy this fancy new geek device...

    Getting real about BPM

Some weeks ago, my fellow colleague Roland ( @rolandwoldt) pointed me to the book “Getting Real” written by the well-known web design company 37signals. The book talks about their approach to manage web development projects. In that context, getting real means:

    Extending ARIS Business Simulator

    Problem Management (Dependency and Controlling)

The Dependency and Controlling Model shows how a certain ITIL process interacts with other ITIL processes by displaying which data/information is exchanged between the processes. For example, on the one hand, the Problem Management Process needs the Incident Records and Problem Descriptions as input from the Incident Management Process in order to detect and solve potential problems.

    Problem Management (Process)

Using the classical Event driven process model type the process flow of the Problem Management process is displayed her. This model shows how the different core activities are logically and chronologically interwoven witch each other using functions and event object types. Furthermore all the interfaces to other ITIL processes are modeled so that an end-to-end process overview is achieved.
